Editor in Chief- Profile

InuiProf. Takashi Inui received his Master degree in science from Kwansei Gakuin University in 1989 and joined the International Research Laboratories of Ciba-Geigy Japan Ltd. (currently Novartis Pharma Ltd.). Therein he produced brilliant scientific achievements in pharmacological sciences, leading to receiving his Ph.D. degree from Kwansei Gakuin University in 1997. After leaving the company he completed 4-year postdoctoral training in the Department of Molecular Behavioral Biology at Osaka Bioscience Institute. In 2002, he accepted an associate professor position in the Department of Food and Nutrition at Tsu City College. In 2005, he joined Graduate School of Life and Environmental Sciences at Osaka Prefecture University as an associate professor, and has been a professor since 2011 to present.

Currently, his major research interest is to investigate correlation between the structure and function of a lipocalin family protein, which serves as a transporter of lipophilic low-molecular-weight compounds, by use of a variety of physicochemical techniques. As a goal of this research, he aims at development of a new drug delivery system to effectively utilize hydrophobic drugs that have been abandoned to develop in pharmaceutical companies. Besides, he is also interested in development of inhibitors of enzymes involved in nucleic acid biosynthesis in Trypanosoma brucei, protozoa causing African sleeping sickness.
