Associate Professor Dr. Sha Shiong, NG received his PhD degree in Condensed Matter Physics from Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM), Malaysia. Currently, he serves as Program Chair at the Institute of Nano Optoelectronics Research and Technology (INOR), USM. His research area focuses on metal-organic chemical vapour deposition of III-nitride semiconductor materials for light emitting, solar cells, and sensors applications. Dr. Ng is also working on the low-cost synthesis of gallium nitride and indium nitride as well as transparent conducting gallium oxide using the sol-gel spin coating technique for optoelectronic applications. In 2018, he was a Visiting Research Scholar for 6 months at Prof. Dr. Shuji Nakamura (2014 Nobel Prize winner in Physics) Laboratory at the Solid State Lighting & Energy Electronics Center (SSLEEC), University of California, Santa Barbara, USA. Dr. Ng has published more than 190 research papers. His current h-index is 20. Besides, he has 4 patents (one granted and 3 filed), and published two monographs. He was the principal investigator for 2 international, 6 national, and 7 university research grants. At present, Dr. Ng is the Senior Member of Optica, and a member of the Materials Research Society, the Society for Applied Spectroscopy, and the SPIE. He is also a member of the National Council of Professors, a life member of the Malaysian Solid State Science & Technology Society and the Malaysian Institute of Physics. He is also a regular reviewer for many reputable journals. Currently, he serves as an Associate Editor of IEEE Photonics Technology Letters.
